The Off The Beaten Path Studio Tour
Off the Beaten Path Tour
Mark your calendar for October, Oct. 23-25: the 10th annual Off The Beaten Path Studio Tour.
During this free yearly event— held the last full weekend every October— Off the Beaten Path member artists in DeKalb and Cannon Counties open their studios to the public, inviting you in to experience their work in the setting which inspires their creativity. In years past, it’s drawn hundreds of visitors for the chance to meet and mingle with the artists and other arts enthusiasts.
This self-guided tour is also a great opportunity to see our area’s scenic autumn landscape when colors are at their peak, as you travel stop to stop. Eleven studios will be featured, with more than two dozen artists participating. Their work encompasses a range of traditional and contemporary craft in ceramic, fiber, wood, glass and other media.
At each studio, you’ll earn about their methods and materials, and can see purchase or commission original works by these nationally and internationally recognized local artists. Several studios will also feature live demonstrations.
Although the fall studio tour is Off The Beaten Path’s main event, the group strives to promote appreciation of all the arts throughout the year with educational programs, community projects and free public activities. For more information on Off The Beaten Path, its activities or the fall tour, contact William or Sharon Kooienga, 2009 co-presidents, 615.536.5567, or visit the group’s website www.offthebeatenpathtour.com
