DTC Wireless

Advantage Cellular systems d/b/a DTC Wireless was founded in 1991 as a wholly owned subsidiary of it’s parent company DeKalb Telephone Cooperative. The headquarters of both companies are located in Alexandria, Tennessee.

Advantage was licensed to provide service and operates 47 towers in the counties of Smith, DeKalb, Cannon, White, Warren, Van Buren, Coffee and Grundy, but was and remains today a nationwide carrier through agreements entered into with major roaming partners throughout the country. The company started providing service using analog technology. As technology continued to advance, so did Advantage Cellular Systems, later providing service using TDMA technology.

Technological advances did not stop there. In 2004, Advantage Cellular under went the most extensive network upgrade in it’s history, installing a state of the art GSM cellular network. The GSM technology is the most deployed network worldwide and has the largest customer base of any cellular technology in the world and we were pleased to be able to bring that technology to the rural areas of Tennessee.

Also in 2004, we transformed our company name as well when we began doing business as DTC Wireless to reflect that we were more than the original cellular provider that we started out as in 1991.

Today we not only offer a high quality voice/text network but wireless data network as well.

One of the things we are most proud of is that, we are the only locally owned nationwide wireless provider in our area.
