Jackie Overbey: 2015 Scholarship Recipient
Supporting the education of young people in our communities is a significant part of DTC's outreach efforts. Nineteen years ago, DTC established a scholarship program to recognize students who excel in both academics and extracurricular activities. This award commemorates the life and achievements of McAllen Foutch who was instrumental in establishing DTC in 1951.
Jackie Overbey, this year's recipient and a DeKalb County High School graduate, joins the ranks of previous winners with an extensive list of achievements. Jackie was among the top ten outstanding seniors, earned distinction honors, and became a Tennessee Scholar. In addition to maintaining high academic standing, she was a member of the Junior Beta Club, Future Farmers of America, and various other school clubs. She played on the DCHS girls soccer team throughout high school.
Jackie is the daughter of Greg and Kelley Overbey of Smithville. She is currently enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, seeking a bachelor's degree in early elementary education.
We congratulate Jackie on her accomplishments and wish her all the best in this next phase of her education and life.
